FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

How does a patient qualify for medical treatment in Cuba?

Qualification for treatment depends on the following:

  • The availability of medical treatments for patients’ specific medical profile. CubaHeal will require the full medical diagnosis and treatment reports (when applicable), which will be forwarded to the relevant healthcare authorities and medical teams for further determination of eligibility and best treatment program
  • Visa qualifications: CubaHeal will direct, facilitate, and assist you in visa application. Upon approval, CubaHeal will direct the patient to the best available travel route.
How long will it take for the Cuban medical team to conclude their initial assessment for treatment?

Each medical case is unique. From our experience and depending on the speed we receive the English or Spanish translated medical and diagnosis reports, it usually takes between 10-14 business days (excluding national and religious holidays) for the Cuban Medical Authorities to provide a final assessment and decision regarding treatment. We will keep the patient, or the individual acting on behalf of the patient, informed every step of the way of where we are in the process. If the patient is approved for treatment, such approval will be in a form of a treatment program, which will promptly be forwarded to the patient.

Visitors to Cuba for medical care testify that treatments, (which include, hospital stays and treatment at some of the world’s most prestigious healthcare facilities, accommodations, meals, recovery, and recuperation for the patient and a companion), are considered to be at about 40 to 60 percent less expensive than the cost of treatment in their home countries.
